1. Salary and allowances
As a member of the Saxon State Parliament, I receive a taxable monthly salary of €7,315.70 gross in accordance with Section 5 of the Saxon Parliamentary Representatives Act, as well as a monthly subsidy for health and nursing care insurance totaling €451. This amounts to a total of €7,765.12.
2. Taxes, social security, and health insurance
The salary is taxable income. I pay a monthly tax prepayment (including solidarity surcharge) of €1,920 from my salary. As a member of parliament, I am also covered by public health insurance and pay a monthlynursing care and health insurance contribution of €1,174.17. As I receive the above-mentioned subsidy of €451 per month, the difference of €688.17 is also paid from the salary. In addition, a contribution of €36.58 (0.5% of the allowance) is retained by the state parliament as a kind of pension contribution for public officials (contribution in accordance with Section 5 (4) SächsAbgG). This leaves a total of €4,670.95 net from the original salary plus health insurance subsidy.
3. Salary cap
As decided before my election, I am limiting my salary to the average net income of employees in Germany (2024) (source). From September 2024 to October 2025, my salary cap was €2,500 net per month. On 1 November 2025, the activists of Die Linke in my constituency of Leipzig Mitte-Ost decided to increase the salary cap to €2,650 per month due to rising living costs and new family commitments on my part. I therefore receive €2,650 net per month from the allowance account as salary into my private account.
I will contribute to the statutory pension insurance program, but I will make the payments after my term in office as part of a retroactive insurance arrangement. The reason for this is that making payments immediately would reduce my current entitlement to a reduced earning capacity pension. This protection does not apply during my time as a member of parliament.
4. Surplus
I give the entire remaining amount of €2,020.95 to people in need, social initiatives and political party Die Linke. The money should go where it is needed.
– Since my election in 2024, I have been contributing €450 per month from my allowance to a social fund, which I use to provide direct support in the form of small sums to people in need. I also use the fund during weekly social consultation hours, which offer people advice and assistance. If this amount is not used up each month, I donate the remaining balance to social initiatives at the end of the year, up to a total of €5,400.
– Every month, I donate €150 from the salary to a donation fund for associations and initiatives that need financial support.
– Every month, I pay a voluntary contribution of€1,043.11 to Die Linke Sachsen . As a member of Die Linke, I also pay a monthly membership fee of€85,which is deducted from my salary, in accordance with the contribution table and regulations.
– I donate €100 per month to the donation fund of the Left Party parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament.
– I donate €400 per month to the Abgeordnetenverein Die Linke Sachsen e.V.
– I pay €70.00 per month for membership of the ver.di trade union, half of which is deducted from my salary and half from my already capped private part.
– The remaining €152.89 per month from the allowance goes towards the existing and future activities of Klinke e.V. and the facilities of the Klinke community centre.
5. The electoral district or cost allowance
Members of the Saxon State Parliament receive a tax-free cost allowance under Section 6 of the Members of Parliament Act to cover travel expenses, constituency work, office costs, etc. As I live more than 100 km away from Dresden, my allowance amounts to €5,301.83 per month. Members of Parliament are not accountable for this expense allowance – many members of other parties use it almost as an additional salary.
From this cost allowance, I pay:
– €450 for maintaining additional office of the Left Party parliamentary group in the Saxon state parliament.
– The rest of just €4,850 per month in fixed costs for my office and the Klinke community centre:

6. State Parliament allowances
For the entire legislative period, I am entitled to a one-time flat-rate allowance of €10,944 for furnishing my office. This money has been or will be used to purchase, replace and renew furnishings and technical infrastructure in the clinic, among other things. This sum is administered by the state parliament and may only be used for furnishing expenses.
